REPORTS
President Colin's Farewell Address

I believe that we have emerged
a stronger and more vibrant club
with the attitude and commitment
that will ensure that not only will we survive
but grow into the future with pride.

It’s tempting to simply say 2020-21 we had Covid and sit down again. None of us could have predicted then the events that unfolded in the last 12 months.
At the start of the Rotary year, we set modest measurable and achievable targets and thankfully with a few Bunnings BBQ’s, a few Farmers markets and the raffles and raffle books we achieved every target we set.
What we didn’t achieve was much of anything else. Virtually no youth, international community or other major projects could be even started yet alone achieved.
But let’s look at the positives,
We forgot our committees and came together as one team.

NEWGEN
Kiel Egging

NewGen has had a challenging but still successful year, and Ash and I were glad to join you all for a great feed and good times at Friday's changeover. Congrats to Col on his year as president in difficult circumstances, and good luck to Ben for his year ahead.

I will be sending out our annual report covering all our achievements in 2020-21 hopefully in the next week or so.

But to finish off the year with some good news, we can reveal that Parmas For Polio raised $1274 on the night, and has been transformed into more than $4400 for the End Polio Now cause.

The boys and I are also looking at making a small donation to Rotary's relief fund for the Dandenong Ranges storms earlier this month.

“The future hasn’t been written yet !

Make it a good one”!

Rotarians and friends,

I’d like to thank President Colin and the board and committees for their work for the last 12 months, it hasn’t been easy. Thank you all for being here to enjoy an evening of friendship and fellowship, to celebrate the achievements in the past 12 months and to consider the way forward.

Personally, one of the hardest things for me has been keeping up with the buzz words, all of which I will gladly never hear again. Indeed, those with a real panache for buzzwords swiftly mastered the art of commencing an email, or a meeting, with "in these uncertain times..." before closing the very same email with "as we navigate these uncharted waters, together". Or if you preferred, “we’re living in unprecedented times”.

Then we had zoom meetings which sounded remarkably like a modern séance.... “Elizabeth... are you there?” , “Make a sound if you can hear us”... “ is anyone else with you?”.... “we can’t see you, can you hear us!”

Rotary Theme

Theme 2021/2022

ROTARY HISTORY

The tradition of crafting a theme is credited to Percy C. Hodgson, Rotary’s president in 1949-50. When Hodgson addressed the International Assembly in 1949, he impressed upon the incoming leaders that they had a “glorious opportunity to impart Rotary knowledge” and that “lack of Rotary knowledge can be a deterrent to the successful operation of a Rotary club.”
