President Phil's Message

We Can all “Make a Difference”

On Friday evening I had the honour of being inducted as the 53rd President of the Rotary Club of Nunawading. The Rotary worldwide theme this year, decided by RI President and Sandringham Rotarian Ian Riseley, is “Rotary – Making a Difference”.

In my speech I mentioned Club members who already “Make a Difference” by their contributions to local and International projects. These members have not waited to be asked what they can do, they have gone out and done what they can.

In putting together the Cub structure for the year, I have talked to a number of members about taking on roles. In most cases, the results have been positive. Equally I have been delighted when members have said that they cannot take on a role but they can help in other ways. For instance Mike Prior is off on several outback adventures this year and is working with Neil Ibbott on membership. Ian Symons is likewise away but is organising the weekend in the King Valley. In both cases these members are Making a Difference.

The Club is a diverse being, comprised of members with varying health, time availability, financial security and management skills. There is an active role for all members without compromising their life outside Rotary.
On Wednesday I will outline the plan developed with the incoming board for the year ahead. I look forward to working with you all so that as a club we can “Make a Difference”.

2017 Changeover

Last Friday night we celebrated the induction of 2017-18 President Philip Maxwell.
2016-17 President David Hatcher reported on the achievements of the past Rotary year and thanked his Leadership Team and the whole Club for their support.
