Good afternoon all,
Further to my recent communication concerning the Lift the Lid Appeal I am pleased to report arrangements have been finalised as follows for Friday, 7th October:-
1. We have been given full access to every railway station in our Cluster District both outside the station and on the platform areas, if required.
2. The stations concerned for which we require two volunteers each are:-
i) Mont Albert
ii) Box Hill
iii) Laburnum
iv) Blackburn
v) Nunawading
vi) Mitcham
vii) Heatherdale
3. All Metro staff will be wearing Lift the Lid stickers on the day to promote the Appeal.
4. It is suggested that collection times at the local railway stations be between 7.00 am and 9.00 am on Friday, 7th October.
5. We have secured sites at the Bunnings Superstores at the following locations:
a. Middleborough Road, Box Hill South.
b. Burwood Highway, Vermont South.
c. Whitehorse Road, Nunawading.
6. Bunnings will supply tables and chairs(2) for collectors who will be located at the front entrance of each stall and, therefore, totally undercover.
7. Bunnings have only granted us access to their stores for collection purposes on Friday, 7th October and the suggested collection times are between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm on that day.
8. It is proposed to roster the Bunnings volunteers in two shifts being 10.00 am to 1.00 pm for the first shift and 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm for the second.
9. We will be purchasing collection containers for the use of collectors which will also have Lift the Lid stickers attached.
10. The collection containers will be numbered and allocated to the individual volunteer’s Rotary Club in our Cluster District.
11. The total proceeds raised through the collection containers will be allocated to that individual Club’s donation component to Australian Rotary Health for 2016-2017, i.e., Clubs will be credited with the dollar proceeds their volunteers collect on the day.
12. As the Lift the Lid Appeal is being conducted in conjunction with the Annual Hat Day celebration, volunteers are asked to wear a hat whilst on collection duties. Lift the Lid stickers will be available if volunteers wish to affix one to their hat for the day.
As a matter of urgency will you kindly discuss the Lift the Lid Appeal with your Club Members and let me have details of those who are prepared to volunteer to collect on Friday, 7th October.
I would hope that 26 Rotarians within our Cluster would volunteer to contribute between 2-3 hours on Friday, 7th October to fill the 26 available spots to assist in this vital fund raising appeal on behalf of Australian Rotary Health.
Please let me know the response of your Club Members to this request for volunteers and, also, please feel free to contact me if there is any further information you might require in connection with the Lift the Lid Appeal.
Yours in Rotary
