Rotary Club of Nunawading   meets every Wednesday 6:00 for 6:30 pm

at Bucatini Restaurant and Bar

454 Whitehorse Road, Mitcham (Mel 48 J9)

Apologies and guest numbers should go to Suzanne Murphy 9878 8886 (W) dreamworld@netspace.net.au

Hi to All Members,

Just a reminder that the above meeting will be held at next Wednesday Club meeting.

This is an important event for all members as we are adopt a new Constitution and a rework of the current Bylaws to support the changes to this Constitution.

A Special General Meeting requires a quorum of at least one third of the members to be present or to cast a vote by proxy to be eligible.

Constitution rules strictly require members voting by proxy to have these signed forms with our Club Secretary Lesley 24 hours before the meeting.

Regards

Harvey

Student Feedback for Blackburn Mock Employment Interviews
  1. I better understand how to prepare for a job interview.
  1. I learnt new and useful information about being interviewed

  2. I feel more confident being interviewed for a job

  1. I felt like I was in a real interview

  1. I better understand how I can best promote myself at an interview

Dear Terry,

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Nunawading I would like to thank you for your efforts in organising the Vocational Interviews this year. While we had  late problems I think we successfully trialed a new format that will be useful into the future . I enclose the results of our feed back.

In general those students that responded to the information given to them went well in all areas. However there was a clear difference in those that did not present with a resume. Given that there were some late inclusions due to the enrollment difficulties this is understandable. The results show that all students agreed that it was a worthwhile exercise. We may have to work a little in making it  a more believable interview. I think it would be useful to let the students know that they themselves value these interviews highly.

Assoc Professor Robert (Bob) Davis

Hey everyone!

How are you?

Hope everyone is great!

Unfortunately, we had to postpone our trip to Australia. Things in Brazil are not going very well. We just bought a new apartment and the dollar is now so high (since the beginning of this year it is just going up). We started to plan our trip and realized that it will be very difficult for us right now.

I was sad because I was very excited to see you all and Australia again. We thought about making a short trip but I think it would not be enough and the same. So we made a decision to postpone and be able to do better after.

It´s a shame that it will not match with the Rotary Club anniversary but won´t give up.

Thank you all for the support and updated news. As soon as I have news, I´ll let you know.

And let me know how was the anniversary!

Regards,

Patty

On Thursday night the Rotary Clubs of Huntingdale and Clayton held a Charity Garden Auction and Pre Mothers’ Day Dinner at the Oakleigh Carnegie RSL Club. 109 people were in attendance.
On the night there were two great guest speakers, Roger Boyle (Sales Manager Vic/SA at Oasis Horticulture) and Danielle Brocklehurst, who spoke about her first-hand experience using Ronald McDonald House while her son Lachlan was being treated at the Monash Medical Centre.
All money raised on the night is going towards Ronald McDonald House, Family Room at the Monash Children’s Hospital. Many thanks to Frank Mitchell from Pinewood Nursery for organising the lovely plants and gardening goods up for auction.

CC lunch dates

                                June   15 then;

                                August 4 (my birthday, and a few others in close proximity) then;

                                October 5 then;

                                November (date dependent on what specials are on at the RACV Club)

I have changed the June date to JUNE 15, (not the 8th which is the Monday of the long week end)

The above dates are provided  so those who have a streak of administrative incompetence, ( a bit like this old COCC, who keeps choosing 'holidays' to have lunch on, knowing full well that you will all be away caravanning, beaching, cruising or other such activity, and therefore unable to attend) can enter them in their respective diaries.

Given the next luncheon is in June, those wishing to attend this auspicious occasion could, if need be, arrange a half day of annual leave, tell their respective employer, if it is not themselves, that they have a more important activity to attend to on this day.

The end of the financial year will still be 2 weeks away so any extra cash that you must  dispose of could be spent on a hearty meal. Remember all are invited to the, as yet undecided destination.

You can be assured that this COCC will choose a destination in proximity to most, and of pleasant surrounds so that all may enjoy such wondrous company, and delightful conversation.

Given the notice provided, all will have to provide reasonable excuses for being absent.

Remember, all are invited.

P.S. I am sure members of the CC appreciated yesterdays meal and activities, all good, well done to all those that helped organize a great day, (maybe they could lend me a hand in choosing dates and venues).

Regards

  Did You Know This About Leather Dresses?

Do  you know that when a woman wears a leather dress,
A man ' s heart beats  quicker,
His throat gets dry,
He gets weak in the knees,
And he  begins to think irrationally???

Ever wonder why?

 ................. It’s because she smells like a new Football !!!!

 To our members that are not well at present we hope you are up and about and back with us very soon
