WHAT IS A ROTARY FOUNDATION BENEFACTOR?
A Rotary Foundation Benefactor is a person who has notified The Rotary Foundation that he/she has made provisions in his/her final estate plans to Rotary, or made an outright gift of US$1,000 or more, to the Rotary Foundation’s Endowment Fund. Benefactors receive a commemorative certificate, a letter of appreciation, and a royal blue and gold ribbon insignia to be attached to a Rotary or PHF pin. A US$1,000 gift to The Foundation creates a legacy of helping people live better lives around the world. 90,219 donors have become Benefactors as of 30 June 2013.

President Phil's Message

I Just Love Melbourne!

Where else in the world would a city be transfixed by a sporting event that attracts 100,000 spectators at the ground, with another 15,000 at a ground 500 meters away. Where a public holiday is struck to celebrate the parade on the day before the game.

I know that some Members get frustrated and somewhat annoyed at the emphasis on AFL in Melbourne. But you do not have to look much beyond the MCG precinct to see the Not Round Ground, the home of soccer and rugby. Just down the road is the tennis and multi purpose centre, including the Margaret Court Court and the Tina Arena Arena. Across the Yarra is that magnificent gift of Sydney Myer to Melbourne that has the Pop up Globe Theatre just behind it. So Melbourne embraces all sports and culture. If two flies were crawling up a wall you would get 10,000 spectators and all the betting sites publishing odds. So go with the flow, enjoy the holiday or join the Anti-Football League once promoted by late Sun newspaper columnist Keith Dunstan.

For us AFL tragics we must wait until April next year for another dose of adrenalin as our teams regroup and prepare for the season ahead.
Go Bombers!
