WHAT IS A ROTARY FOUNDATION SUSTAINING MEMBER?
A Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member is an individual who personally contributes US$100 or more each Rotary year to the Annual Fund. These contributions also count toward Paul Harris Fellow, Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society, Major Donor, and club recognition. After donating $100.00 per year for 10 Rotary years, he/she becomes a Paul Harris Fellow.

For $1.92 per week, you too can be a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member! CAN I SIGN YOU UP?

President Phil's Message

A time for every purpose under heaven.

Rotary in Australia should call August and September Rest & Recreation months. Our numbers have been greatly diminished as members head off around parts of Australia and around the world. Daily there are Facebook photos from Sue and Russell in Scandinavia making us all feel envious. John is enjoying Ireland and abandoning his beloved Bombers. A pair of Ians are floating around Australia and the USA. The Major is about to embark on another jaunt to Europe. Mike is temporarily with us and Graeme has applied for an Australian Visa to visit us in September. David and Jenny will head back to the old Blighty soon for a well earned break.
We have also been hit with a bad season for influenza and various throat and chest infections. Last week we had last minute cancellations for our meeting due to various lurgies. James is having trouble throwing off the flu. Sue X is recovering from an operation on her hand.
If you are in places that are interesting, then enjoy yourself.
If you are holed up in bed recovering, then take care of yourself.
We all need time to relax and be well.
So August and September should be called “Rest and Recovery” month instead.
Thanks Rob for organizing Norman Repacholi to talk about the dairy industry last week. I had my worst fears confirmed that those “special beef patties” were in fact recycled milking cows. Rotary is always a learning experience.
Janette will be running the meeting this week. I will be at the Whitehorse Community dinner with other community leaders. See you in September.

Cheers,
Phil Maxwell
