LAST WEEK'S MEETING
KLIBUR DOMIN

Our Speaker - Air Commodore Peter Newton, AO RAAF (Retd) needed no introduction. A resident of Blackburn, he has long been acquainted with several of our members and has spoken to us  about  Ryder- Cheshire Australia and the work they carried out in Australia, India and Timor Leste.

On this occasion, Peter spoke of Klibur Domin in Tibar, Timor Leste -  a health care facility he had been instrumental in establishing in 2000.

Background:  400 years of colonisation, exploitation, depletion of resources, war, famine and disease have left Timor Leste  seriously under resourced and devoid of adequate infrastructure to meet even the most basic needs of its population. TB and Malnutrition are just two of the major health challenges faced by the populace.

Klibur Domin  means Sharing With Love in Tetum The facility is situated in Tibar – some 17 km west of Dili.  Its goal :
‘To relieve the suffering of Timorese people
who are sick, disabled or destitute,
without discrimination.’

All care and services are  provided free of charge.

CENTENARY COIN AND STAMP LAUNCH SUCCESS
from Ian Evans

The Rotary Centenary Coins and Stamp launch was held on Thursday11th March 2021, and was truly a wonderful event.
The seamless online communication link between the Melbourne and Sydney UBS boardrooms was impressive and allowed us to showcase the best of the two centenary clubs of Rotary Melbourne and Rotary Sydney.

I would like to acknowledge the leadership of those clubs dating back one hundred years.

Sir John Monash, the second President of the Rotary Club of Melbourne, and indeed every president since
