We had a truly inspiring presentation from Sandi Fulcher, Administration Coordinator for EndTrachoma. Sandi's father was once a member of RC Nunawading, and Sandi has been a Rotarian since 2003.
About Trachoma
Trachoma is the leading cause of infectious blindness in the world - 1.9 million are blind or severely vision impaired from trachoma, and 200 million are still at risk.
Australia is the last developed country to still have trachoma
Australia’s coordinated effort in treatment began in 2009, resulting in significant rate reductions from 21% to 4.6% in 2015
Without prevention, trachoma will persist.
To stop trachoma transmission, and its resurgence, we must ensure that all children in affected communities are able to keep their faces clean, and have safe and functional washing facilities.

Fundraising
The series of Bunning’s sausage sizzles have been extremely successful
thanks to Russell and his team of Club supporters.
This fellowship and fundraising is vital to the Club’s success
and our partnership with Bunning’s Nunawading continues to grow.
We have banked some $3583 from our 3 opportunities to attend
and the members volunteering have enjoyed their sessions, and particularly the contact with the returning community members after our Covid lockdown.
Bring on the weekend before Christmas
to secure some further good times
and the great fundraising opportunities
that this partnership provides!
Bruce Simcox shared a memory of an encounter with the late Bert Newton.
Apparently Bruce did win a holiday for 2 on that occasion .

A man is stranded in the desert dying of thirst. As he crawls along he spots something on the horizon. As he gets closer, he sees the objects are market stalls.
He goes to the first stall and pleads for water. The stall holder tells him he only sells jelly with broken biscuit in it.
He crawls to the next stall and pleads for water put the stall holder tells him he only serves cold custard.
He crawls to the final stall and pleads for water. The stall holder tells him he only sells whipped cream.
The man cries in anguish and asks why the market only sells jelly, cold custard, and whipped cream but no water.
One of the stall holder’s replies
“Yes, it is a trifle bizarre, isn’t it?!”
