IN 1945, THE WRITTEN OBJECTIVE FOR THE ROTARY FOUNDATION WAS:
1. The Promotion of The Rotary Foundation Fellowships for advanced study;
2. The fostering of any tangible and effective projects which have as their purpose the furthering of better understanding and friendly relations between the peoples of different nations; and
3. The providing of emergency relief for Rotarians and their families wherever war or other disaster has brought general destruction and suffering.
THE ROTARY FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO DO “GOOD WORK” TODAY!

President Phil's Message

Oh what a night!

It doesn’t get much better than our Interplast Christmas in July function on Monday the 31st.  With 148 participants, Bucatini packed, and a buzz in the room you would be hard pressed not to enjoy the night.
When Harvey suggested the function we felt that 100 participants would be a good outcome. With the support of our fellow “clusterers” from Forest Hill and Mitcham and support from other clubs, District and many friends we blew this target away. Thank you to members who brought friends and family.
Special thanks go out to Harvey’s fantastic team and especially Harvey the “Eveready Bunny” whose enthusiasm and attention to detail ensured success.
The biggest winner from the night was Interplast who will receive all the proceeds, a figure in excess of $4,200. With this money at least four children in a developing country will have an operation that will change their life for the better. As Rotarians and friends we are “Making a Difference” to these children’s lives. Well done everyone!
Phil

National Tree Planting Day
It was great to be part of the National Tree Planting Day. We planted 125 trees in the morning with willing hands.
CANADIAN ADVENTURE JUNE 2018
TEAM RISELEY PRE-CONVENTION

CANADIAN ADVENTURE JUNE 2018

Following the initial tour information being sent out to all Rotarians in District 9810 we are close to confirming the Team Riseley Pre-Convention Canadian Adventure 2018. The tour will begin in Vancouver and arrive in Toronto on 22 June. This will give delegates time to explore or attend pre-convention activities prior to the convention beginning on 23rd June.
With excellent Expressions of Interest from many Rotarians over the past months to travel to the International Convention in Toronto we have prepared a great tour itinerary of Canada beginning in Vancouver.

We invite interested Rotarians and Partners/Friends to join us on Tuesday 8th August at
Melbourne Baseball Club in Surry Park
Surry Drive, near the Corner of Elgar Road
Box Hill South
 7.00pm.
Drinks at Bar Prices, Coffee/tea & nibbles provided
RSVP: Helen Wragg by Friday 4th August
We will have a Canadian Tour Expert along to answer your queries about the tour and Canada.

The Tour requires a minimum number of passengers to proceed. Global Wise Travel requires a $500 participation fee, fully refundable if the tour does not meet minimum numbers.
This participation fee is required by 24th August 2017.
Once the tour numbers have been confirmed the $500 becomes your deposit and is non-refundable.

Past President Helen Wragg, Rotary Club of Hampton, proprietor of Global Wise Travel, will manage the tour. Helen is happy to answer any questions on this project. Her contact details are:

Trash n Treasure Stall - ROMAC
At the RC of Bentleigh Moorabbin Central community market on Sun 27 Aug 17, the club’s International Service director, Linda O’Brien, with the help of fellow club member Margaret Mason (D9810 ROMAC Committee member), are running a ‘Trash n Treasure’ stall to support ROMAC.

If you have any items that you could donate to the stall, please give Margaret a call on 9555 5639 or 0419 553 196 to arrange delivery/collection.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated as we aim this rotary year to reach our D9810 ROMAC goal for district clubs to raise $50,000; sufficient funds ‘To Save the Lives of Two ROMAC Patients’.

Regards

Yours in Rotary
