This week's meeting will be at the Blackburn Hotel

President's Message
Hello all.

We're back at the Blackburn Hotel for our meeting this week. Last week worked pretty well and with a few additional tweaks, I think our meeting this week will be a bit more efficient and smoother.

On the subject of last week's meeting, Trish Carr's presentation on the digital upgrade to the crisis support card program was wonderful. The fold-out card was a fantastic project, and one that our club has been part of since the start. While our club cannot create and staff even one 24-hour support line, promoting and enabling access to those resources is well within our capabilities. The QR sticker project allows us to help get relevant, much-needed information out into our local community and to remind people of the good work Rotary is doing. You'll hear more soon about how our club is going to take this on and get it rolling in earnest.

On a more social note, it was great to see so many members and partners at the President's BBQ on Saturday. It was another stinker of a day, but with some shade and the misters in action we managed to get through the afternoon without suffering too much. Good food, some refreshing beverages and enjoyable fellowship: an incredibly pleasant way to raise some non-hypothecated funds for the club to spend on projects.

See you Wednesday,
Mike Finke
Umbrella Dementia Cafe Update

Thank you for reaching out, we would love any support Rotary Nunawading can offer us to keep our beautiful cafe running in 2026.

Just for context, on reviewing the YTD budget for Burwood Chatworks, we saved almost $500 in catering costs for the second half of 2025, which is a substantial contribution from you and your team!  If possible, we would love for Rotary Nunawading to continue providing some afternoon tea options for our members and guests, as we are immensely grateful for this partnership. I understand twice per month can be challenging at times, but we are appreciative of any contributions Rotary Nunawading can give and we are happy to collect the food from you if it is easier.

We are also in short supply of committed volunteers at Chatworks, and hoped we could invite some members of your Rotary club to join us, perhaps on a roster system? I understand commitment to 21 cafes per year is substantial, however we would love to involve more of your members for awareness and the opportunity to see where the clubs' contributions are going.

Warmest regards,

Jess Conley
