August is Membership and New Club Development Month                                   19 August 2020

“I know a man who gave up smoking,
 drinking, sex, and rich food.
He was healthy right up to the
                       day he killed himself.”
 – Johnny Carson, former host of The Tonight Show

Hi all,

We are,  as a club a tight knit group of both Rotarians and friends.
We are starting to get inspiration that makes our Zoom meetings entertaining and other ideas for fellowship like the radio plays and the cocktail party.
  • 1 tsp of sugar,
  • 2 Dash of Triple Sec
  • Brandy
  • Ice.

We also look forward to the fellowship of in-person meetings getting back into the community both global and local to continue to do the good work that Rotary does.
However, whilst we are still not able to meet in person don’t forget to reach out and ring each other for no reason other than to say hello.
Last weeks speaker Heather Widjaja from Easter Palliative Care was an inspirational speaker that gave us just some insights into what she does. I urge you all to log onto the web site as it’s an interesting read.  epc.asn.au
This week we have DGE Daryl Moran sitting in the back row as a visiting Rotarian and a board meeting after the Zoom meeting that is open to everyone to attend.
      See you all Wednesday.

                                                                      Col
  • P.S. The cocktail recipe is for a Lady Godiva….. just putting it out there!!!!!!

We had Heather Widjaja from  Eastern Palliative Care speak to us last week.
Eastern Palliative Care (EPC) is a not-for-profit home-based palliative care service which offers a full range of support programs with the aim of improving the quality of life of individuals, carers and families of those suffering life-limiting or terminal illnesses.
We all have had preconceived ideas about what constitutes palliative care, but Heather amazed us when she outlined the breadth and depth of services that are offered through this NGO. They include even biographic and photographic services.
She also advised that clients should be referred earlier, rather than later, so that their quality of life can be improved .
All services are provided by volunteers at no fee for the client.
While they do receive some government funding, they welcome sponsorship, donations and fundraising events.
However, they also have a very great need for volunteers, and have periodic volunteer training sessions.

Since we can't donate to EREY each week at our Rotary
meetings, you can donate direct payments into the club's general bank account, clearly labelled. This can be done in smaller amounts or as a whole. Please let me know when you make a payment.
I will keep track of it and let you know when you've reached the target of $100 AUD.

OUR  RADIO PLAY
Fibber Gets His Hand Caught in a Bottle
from Wayne

Hi All,
Here  is the link I spoke about in the meeting tonight

I have read through the script and selected it because it is lighthearted and I think it will be a fun exercise.
Would all those who volunteered have a look at the script and let me know which part you would like to do. ....first in ..best dressed

I have sufficient volunteers to cover the "cast".
Thank you for your interest
