On Sunday 29 November 2015, the Blackburn Lake Yarning Circle was officially opened by the new Mayor of the City of Whitehorse, Philip Daw.

President Bruce spoke to those assembled about the clubs association with Blackburn Lake over the past 50 years.  He then told the first yarn which was some facts about the Lake from 65 years ago.

Apart from Pres. Bruce, the club was represented by Bob and Bev Hoskins, Neil Ibbott, Cr. Ben Stennett and Ian Armstrong

Here is a link sourced by Neil which gives more information about Yarning Circles.

Message from Peter

"At last weeks meeting I asked how many people remembered Conny Rubas our exchange student from Vienna who was here in the 2004/5 year. Most of you put your hands up.
Conny was just 14 when she arrived in August and turned 15 soon after.
Well that is 10 years ago and Conny is a grown woman now with  a lovely Partner Erich. I just received an announcement regarding the arrival of Miriam Lotta who was born on 2 October 2015 at 13.50 weighing 3760 grams and 51 cm long.
Well done Conny and Erich.
The card is of course in German and thanks the recipients for sharing their joy.
There is one little saying which translates to

Some things begin small, some things begin big. But sometimes the smallest is the biggest."

The Satnav - by Pam Ayres
I have a little Satnav,
It sits there in my car
A Satnav is a driver's friend,
It tells you where you are.
I have a little Satnav,
I've had it all my life
It's better than the normal ones,
My Satnav is my wife.
It gives me full instructions,
Especially how to drive
"It's sixty miles an hour", it says,
"You're doing sixty five".
It tells me when to stop and start,
And when to use the brake
And tells me that it's never ever,
Safe to overtake.
It tells me when a light is red,
And when it goes to green
It seems to know instinctively,
Just when to intervene.
It lists the vehicles just in front,
And all those to the rear
And taking this into account,
It specifies my gear.
I'm sure no other driver,
Has so helpful a device
For when we leave and lock the car,
It still gives its advice.
It fills me up with counselling,
Each journey's pretty fraught
So why don't I exchange it,
And get a quieter sort?
Ah well, you see, it cleans the house,
Makes sure I'm properly fed
It washes all my shirts and things,
And keeps me warm in bed!
Despite all these advantages,
And my tendency to scoff,
I only wish that now and then,
I could turn the bugger off.
