BlueGas Technologies

Bob Davis introduced Sir Peter Wentzki .
His profile is so extensive and impressive that I will simply refer you to

BlueGas Technologies is a Division of Ausnindo International Consulting Group
Ausnindo is a professional international business consulting organisation.

They offer German designed Concord Blue Reformer – the worlds most advanced thermal waste to energy conversion technology.

The waste management system Peter spoke of was almost all encompassing and truly exciting.
Unfortunately, I was unable to find the BlueGas technologies website, so I resorted to seeking information from the CONCORD BLUE website at

Quoting directly from the website
Concord Blue's gasification technology is a safe way to dispose of waste, eliminating the need for landfills. The Concord Blue Reformer emits minimal pollution as it uses heat transfer instead of incinerations to convert waste into renewable energy.

Concord Blue's process uses a variety of waste inputs as valuable resources. Municipal solid waste, household trash, tires, bio garbage, sewage sludge waste, agricultural biomass waste, manufacturing sludge, paper recycling refuses, plastic waste, tires, and such are processed cleanly into a variety of outputs, such as hydrogen, renewable energy. “One of our Whitehorse 100 Years of Rotary In Australia Projects was Culturally Appropriate Kitchen packs for Kara House.

Given the situation with lockdowns and Government regulations, the Centenary Projects committee along with Kara House decided it was best to give Kara House $4,000 for the project.  Kara House will be responsible for purchasing the items and will need to acquit monies back to Rotary.

A letter was sent by Kara House to Presidents of the contributing Rotary Clubs.

MIMS

We have a mobile Xray machine, image readers and accessories crated and ready for shipping to Raratonga (Cook Islands) . We are immensely grateful to the following for all the help they provided.
  • Nelson Hospital for donation of the Xray machine
  •  Rotary Belfast-Kaiapoi for funds for building crate
  • Kaiapoi Menz Shed for manufacture of these crates
  • Tony Bascik of Bascik Transport for shipping these at no cost from Christchurch to Auckland
  • Yusen logistics who have covered most of the cost of shipping the crates to the Cook Island of Aitutaki.
  • Philips NZ have kindly covered the remaining $950 container export fees.
Jason Walker - an engineer with Philips NZ and a non Rotarian volunteer on our initial Cook Island MIMS project- will visit Cook Islands as soon as he can (Covid restrictions permitting) , to ensure that all is in good running order and meets international standards.
Cath Labs

Peter received an email from Dr Tilak Sirisena, the cardiologist from Kurunegala Hospital who some of met when he welcomed us and  who also helped Sue C when she became ill on our club tour of Sri Lanka.
With regard to the lab he wrote

... 'procedures done in Kurunegala using Philips H 3000 machine.
Over 6500 patients had benefitted from your effort.
Although I am not working in Kurunegala now, I take this opportunity to thank you and all others involved for providing us a Cath lab and supporting us through the years.'

FYI:  We installed this pre- loved machine  in 2008, while the hospital was still being built. It was used (sparingly, at first, until more cardiologists were trained) from 2009 to 2017, when the government could afford to replace it with a new Lab.

NB: We have installed and maintained 10 (pre- loved) Catheterisation Laboratories in 4 countries (Nepal, Mongolia, Sri Lanka and Fiji) since 2002, with the understanding that we would, to the best of our abilities, contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the labs for at least 5 years.
We hope to be able to replace the lab at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva early next year, once Covid restrictions are eased.

from Kiel
THANKS FROM KIEL

A huge thankyou to everyone who chipped in to support my Mullets For Mental Health campaign in September.
I started out hoping I might be able to reach $1000. But with the support of several of you from the club, other Rotarians and my friends, I ended up raising $1893 for the Black Dog Institute during the month.
Given NewGen is hibernating, I'm glad I've been able to do this in the meantime and achieve such a great outcome and raise awareness of mental health. All the support has been really surprising and heart warming.
The donation page is still open until December 1, and I'd love to crack my revised target of $2000, so if you feel like contributing to the cause, you can go to the link below.
Oh, and given we're still in lockdown, the mullet will be staying at least until I can go see my hairdresser and see how I can style it up a bit.

featured: RC Nunawading  involvement in developing an Ambulance Station in Nunawading

In 1978 the Rotary Club of Nunawading in association with the Ambulance Service Melbourne undertook a feasibility study of the need for an ambulance station to service the City of Nunawading and adjoining areas.
The Rotary club decided to sponsor the project and initiated approaches to the Nunawading City Council, Victorian State Government and strong support was forthcoming from all sections of the community.
Not long after the Ambulance Station was opened in May 1985, the Rotary Club of Nunawading was awarded a Significant Achievement for the project.
