On Saturday I attended the District 9810 launch of the Multi-District Conference to be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre across February 16-17 2019.
4 Districts are coming together for the first time ever in Victoria to hold this event - possibly the first time anywhere in the world this has happened! Districts 9790, 9800, 9810, 9820 are expected to send somewhere between 1500-2000 Rotarians and other interested participants to this event. So we have the opportunity to be a part of a huge Rotary experience, right here - in our own city and state.
The program looks amazing - the keynote speakers include PRIP Ian Risely, Melbourne's Lord Mayor Sally Capp, athlete Grant Hackett, former VicPol Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon, and a host of other equally interesting and inspiring speakers.
Having heard the enthusiasm of members of the organising committee on Saturday, it is impossible not to be inspired and enthusiastic to attend.
Readers who have attended other District Conferences will note that the event is only running across 2 days - this is because Friday February 15 sees the Rotary Peace Through Service Summit taking place as a separate event, at the conference venue. The summit also has an incredible array of speakers and presenters from around the world, and aims to motivate all Rotarians attending to expand our existing efforts to address causes of conflict such as poverty, disease, hunger, lack of water and education, and to initiate new ones locally and abroad.
I am so inspired that I have booked to attend both events today - I am really looking forward to attending these Rotary events being held on such a large scale (for the first time for this baby Rotarian).
Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone in the club could also attend?
