Shopping Tour

On Saturday May 16 twenty-eight keen shoppers met our bus at 7.30am.

Among us were Rotarians, partners, friends, friends of friends and a big contingent from the Rotary Club of Box Hill Central.

The saying is that you shop till you drop. We certainly did that!

The bus load managed to make an easy dispatch of $8000.

We will make some money to go into the fundraising kitty, however, the greatest benefit was the fellowship that occurred on the day.

Lunch at the Pumphouse convinced many of us that we need to return there soon. It was a great venue.

For those interested, Natio is the only outlet that is not generally open to the public. The others are open for your return visits. I can't promise the bargains at the linen outlet again though. We managed to strike it lucky being one of their yearly sales weekends.

We arrived back at Antonio Park at 6pm worn and weary. It was funny to see the large bags of goodies being passed through the bus windows!

Thank you to all the ladies for your support, and yes, we will do another one maybe closer to Xmas next year.

  • RC Nunawading Changeover is Friday 26th June at the Clarion.
  • Please save the motel soaps or similar size for the 'Days for Girls' program which is a program for sending sanitation products in a wash bag for teenage girls overseas. Give them to Judith. Thanks to the members who have already given me some.
  • Also save used stamps with a good deal of the envelope! They pay by weight!
  • Foreign coins are being collected in a container at the desk
  • RC Nunawading members are rostered on to attend the Whitehorse Rotaract Club on 2nd and 4th Wednesday - 7:15 for 7:30 pm - at Melbourne Baseball Club Surrey Drive, Box Hill. Opposite Aqualink Box Hill..

CC lunch dates

                                June   15 then;

                                August 4 (my birthday, and a few others in close proximity) then;

                                October 5 then;

                                November (date dependent on what specials are on at the RACV Club)

I have changed the June date to JUNE 15, (not the 8th which is the Monday of the long week end)

The above dates are provided  so those who have a streak of administrative incompetence, ( a bit like this old COCC, who keeps choosing 'holidays' to have lunch on, knowing full well that you will all be away caravanning, beaching, cruising or other such activity, and therefore unable to attend) can enter them in their respective diaries.

Given the next luncheon is in June, those wishing to attend this auspicious occasion could, if need be, arrange a half day of annual leave, tell their respective employer, if it is not themselves, that they have a more important activity to attend to on this day.

The end of the financial year will still be 2 weeks away so any extra cash that you must  dispose of could be spent on a hearty meal. Remember all are invited to the, as yet undecided destination.

You can be assured that this COCC will choose a destination in proximity to most, and of pleasant surrounds so that all may enjoy such wondrous company, and delightful conversation.

Given the notice provided, all will have to provide reasonable excuses for being absent.

Remember, all are invited.

P.S. I am sure members of the CC appreciated yesterdays meal and activities, all good, well done to all those that helped organize a great day, (maybe they could lend me a hand in choosing dates and venues).

Regards

COCC
