BLACKBURN CLINIC Past, Present and Future Bob Davis introduced our speaker: Dr. Peter Lovass Peter is no stranger at RC Nunawading. Several members have been patients at the Blackburn clinic where he is a principal medical practitioner. He is also the father of Tamsin, a young lady who RCN sponsored for NYSF about 3 years ago. When Tamsin was invited to compete in the Science Olympiad in Canberra, she asked if her sponsorship could be transferred to that, and we agreed. She is presently completing a BSc. at ANU. In 1952, Dr. Neil Carson commenced consulting out of his house on Whitehorse Road, Blackburn. His waiting room was the lounge room and some of the bedrooms were used as consulting rooms. We are all familiar with the practice on Whitehorse Road next door to Blackburn Primary School. Neil had a vision for co-locating General practice with specialist practice, and he put this in practise by inviting several specialists to consult from the premises. The model grew to incorporate pharmacists, dentists, pathology and radiography services. |
