LAST WEEK'S MEETING
Mark Huddleston

Rotary Membership

Mark Huddleston - author of Creatures of Habit - spoke (on ZOOM) on the crisis in Rotary membership.
Rotary membership has declined by at least a third since the 1980's
He has identified 5 major reasons for the  significant decline .They are:
  • Rotary is seen as less relevant as our average membership age increases.
  • Ineffective communication
  • Change in the volunteering landscape.
  • Obsession with process to the detriment of outcomes
  • We have become too comfortable and apathetic.

REPORTS

In the last month or so, the RORP.9810 team has dismantled four playgrounds and delivered three to our yard in Kilsyth South.
The fourth playground was taken to DIK and loaded in a container with eight others to be shipped to Nepal.

John Arena of Arena Gardens has kindly donated space in his yard for us to store the playgrounds pending their despatch overseas.

On Saturday May 1, B3 helped RORP 9820 load a further ten playgrounds into another container ready to go to Sri Lanka.
This makes 71 playgrounds RORP Victoria will have sent overseas.

The RORP.9810 members involved in the recent harvests are:
  • RC Nunawading - B3, Janette, Wayne, Harvey, Peter, Roger Hank, David, Mike, Gabby, and Graeme
  • RC Knox - Tony and Leon
  • RC Lilydale - Des, Chris and Jerry
