Tamsyn was to be off to The National Youth Science Forum held in Canberra each January however she was lucky and clever enough to be in the 24 students from the whole of Australia that have been accepted to the Australian Chemistry Olympiad Summer School. We will be happy to hear about her experience when she returns and maybe she will get a chance to jet off to Paris if she is selected for the International Experience!
The ultimate challenge for science students
The Australian Science Olympiads are a national program for top performing secondary science students that culminate in the International Science Olympiads. The program is a rewarding opportunity for year 10 and 11 students to extend themselves way beyond school science through challenging exams, stimulating residential programs and international competitions. There are three stages to the Australian Science Olympiads. The Australian Science Olympiad Exams are designed to select the top students to attend the Australian Science Olympiads Summer School and are the first step in being selected to represent Australia at the International Science Olympiads. Based on their performance in the Australian Science Olympiad Exams, around 100 students are invited to attend the Australian Science Olympiads Summer School. Based on their performance at the Australian Science Olympiads Summer School, 17 students are invited to represent Australia at one of the International Science Olympiads in Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science and Physics.
