Our Speaker on July 14

Bruce Hewett
From CEO to Novelist

Bruce Hewett spoke to us about writing and  publishing his debut novel - a pharmacrime novel set in Fiji entitled

CRY IN YOUR SLEEP.

Why Write a Book?

In Bruce Hewett’s words:

“………. each book in each of its formats has a unique ISBN or International Standard Book Number.
I figured that one day I will no longer exist on this planet, however, my ISBN will live on, and maybe somewhere, sometime in the future, someone will re-discover my novel Cry In Your Sleep. Writing the story then became a "bucket list" project culminating in the publication on Amazon. “

Bruce’s book is self-published via Amazon and you can read the blurb and/or buy a copy at

More about Bruce Hewett and how he went about achieving this particular goal......

INTERNATIONAL

from Bob Allardyce

Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds (RORP) has now harvested 98 playgrounds (PGs) in Victoria since the start of the program by RC Flemington Kensington over 5 years ago. #100 should be harvested this month – there’s a race to see which RC and which RORP gets the honours!
The program is still building momentum:
  • 20 in 2019
  • Only 8 in 2020 due to COVID
  • 34 so far in 2021 with at least another 11 scheduled so far to end of the year
Since RC Nunawading took on the program for Districts 9810, 9800 and 9790 ,
we have been involved directly in harvesting 8 PGs in Whitehorse and (our first) one in Knox.
We have overseen the harvest of 6 others in both 9810 and 9790.  RORP.9810 works closely with RORP.9780 and RORP.9820.
