  • Tania lives near Burnt Street Nunawading and noticed there were a high number of Nepalese and Cambodian migrants living in the area and they were marginalised
  • The area bordered by Springvale Rd, Russell St, Esdale Rd, Burnt St and Luckie St has 916 letterboxes and is very high density.
  • Tania has been working to break down barriers mainly through talking with the children in the neighbourhood
  • There is a park in the area that could benefit from have additional facilities like a BBQ so people could get together - they don't have backyards and when they have family around there are 25 to 50 people crowded into a small space
  • It is all about integration of new comers and breaking down barriers with neighbours
There was further discussion about what RC of Nunawading could do to assist moving forward

Volunteers wanted for NYSF - January 2017

Attention Rotarians in District 9810.

Would you like to do something different this coming January 2017?
Would you like to see what the students get to do on the national Youth Science Forum?

If the answer is YES then please read the memo below from the NYSF and the attached PDF.    Please see links above

Dear District 9810 Rotarians,

every year the NYSF welcome several Rotarians to Canberra to fill the roles of “Mum and Dad” and “Aunt and Uncle” during January. These volunteers are a crucial part of the January Sessions, and play a key role in ensuring that our students and Staffies have a safe, happy and healthy program. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for Rotarians to see first-hand what NYSF is all about, and to take that experience back to their club and district.

We’re now looking for expressions of interest in joining us in Canberra in January 2017. Attached is a detailed position description for the roles, including information on the dates for 2017. At the end of the document is an application form - anyone interested in filling the roles needs to complete the form and return it to us by 31 October 2016.

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Kind regards,
Madeline
