The Whitehorse Farmers Market will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and our very own Judith Eadon has been involved for most of it. Earlier this year, Judith decided it was time for others to be involved in the market and handed in her high vis vest, and turned off her 6:00am Sunday alarm.
On Wednesday night Peter McPhee the current Chairperson of the Whitehorse Farmers Market presented Judith with a certificate of appreciation for her decades of work at the market.
On Saturday I had my first Rotary Community Group (RCG) meeting, where all the presidents from the other Rotary/Rotaract clubs in the group came together to discuss how we can support each other to grow Rotary. Trish Carr is our Rotary Community Group leader, and she facilitated the session for us.

Bryce Gaton presented a review of purchasing, driving and charging an EV car.
Bryce has been working and writing about the EV car sector since 2008. He runs ‘EV Choice’ developing EV fleet and charging transition plans for government, business, homeowners and apartment complexes. He has extensive EV industry experience, including designing, electrician training on EV Charger installations, contributing to the ACT policy on EV Ready Developments and working with Standards Australia on guidance for EV charging installations in multi-residential buildings.
Bryce is also a writer for ‘The Driven’, where he reviews many new and upcoming EV models.
In his spare time, Bryce writes for ‘Review’ magazine, as well as producing a series of over 150 fact Sheets, which are available through the Australian Electric Vehicle Association's website.

1. Recently concluded S(MAC)K and OTLR teenage mental health programs
Over the past 6 weeks our club has sponsored two separate Jets training courses for teenage mental health.
The first, 3 sessions of S(MAC)K Talk were held on 10 June (Spreading Messages of Affirmation, Compassion, and Kindness or the "SmackTalk" mental health initiative) is a powerful, highly regarded Australian presentation focused on suicide prevention, online safety, and youth mental health.

The second, called Outside the Locker Room [OTLR] were held on 14 and 15 July.

The differences between SMACK and OTLR with respect to teenage mental health are as follows:
SMACK (Spreading Messages of Affirmation, Compassion, and Kindness) and OTLR (Outside The Locker Room) approach teenage mental health from entirely different angles.
SMACK is an individual psychological well-being, mindfulness, and micro-interventions using positive affirmation tools.
In contrast.
OTLR is a structured, sports-focused psychoeducation and welfare program designed to dismantle stigma and build community support networks around adolescents.
Both SMACK and OTLR were well supported with a combined attendance of over 200 junior footballers, coaches, club officials, and some parents.
These youth programs represent money well spent, with our footy club sponsorship.
The Jets are very appreciative of our support.

Rotaract is a worldwide organisation of young people aged 18+ working together to change our world through community service, international understanding, professional development, friendship & fun.
After many years at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons building in East Melbourne, Interplast is moving our office to the Australian Volunteers International building in Johnson Steet Fitzroy, in order to significantly reduce our rent.
As part of our re-location plans, we need to digitise some of our hard copy records. We are hoping that some of the wonderful District 9815 Rotarians may be in a position to volunteer some time in the next 3 weeks to help scan hard copy documents and then file them in SharePoint. We will have instructions and protocols in place, and a staff member to brief and aid the volunteers.
