Around 30 members and partners attended Ben and Susan's wedding on Saturday. I am sure everyone will agree a great time was had by all with an added bonus of enjoying some of the traditional Assyrian elements of a wedding.
The ceremony was held at St Monica's Church in Moonee Ponds.
A large number of us adjourned to Windy Hill for a few drinks/coffee before the reception in Essendon.

Suzanne Murphy, Maria Pires-Armstrong and Ann & John Lynch were Table Hosts at the Annual Big Give hosted by St Mary's House of Welcome at Fitzroy Town Hall for 300 homeless and disadvantaged people.
The success of the day was made possible by all the donations, big and small received by St Mary's. We must acknowledge the generosity of members of the Rotary Club Of Nunawading.
For Ann and me it was a very eye-opening experience (despite the hot weather) and it makes you realise how a seemingly innocuous change in Government policy can have a hugely negative impact on a man's life. One of my guests is deaf and he was taken off a Disability Pension and placed on the NewStart Allowance. He has been homeless for 17 years and, when his hearing aid was damaged, he could not afford to replace it.
All the guests were extremely grateful for a delicious three course meal and gifts to help them out. If only we could do this every day of the year!
Over 1,200 pairs of glasses and sunglasses were collected by the Rotary Club of Nunawading last month for YWAM Medical Ships work in Papua New Guinea (PNG).
YWAM Medical Ships is a Townsville based charity that operates a medical ship, MV YWAM PNG, in some of PNG’s most remote areas. The former cruise ship has an on-board dentistry clinic, ophthalmology clinic, laboratory and four small boats that are launched from the vessel to transport healthcare teams and supplies to extremely remote communities.
Field activities delivered by YWAM Medical Ships teams include dentistry, maternal and child health, eye care, diagnostic services, health promotion and collegial support and mentoring for PNG health workers.
The glasses donated by the Rotary Club of Nunawading will be utilised by the YWAM Medical Ships optometry team. In 2016 alone, over 8,000 patients were seen in the team’s mobile clinic, including Milne Bay Province man, Dianda, who had extremely poor eyesight for most of his life. Dianda received a pair of donated +11 glasses for distance, and +14 for reading. He returned to his village with a new lease on life as he began to enjoy a whole new world around him.
The MV YWAM PNG will visit six provinces between January – May this year before returning to Townsville for renovations and maintenance. Further voyages are planned for September – December.
