Hi everyone,

For those who did not attend the Zoom meeting last Wednesday the president of Newgen Kevin Walker spoke about his journey with mental illness. An inspirational talk. Well done Kevin.

The first script for the Radio Play is being processed so budding radio thespians get ready for the tap on the shoulder.

Committee meetings this week however how do we achieve this? I think a separate Zoom meeting would be a good idea. Talk about it Wednesday.

To keep the Newgen Coffee for Teachers imitative going we have been given the Rise N Grind account details if anyone who is outside the 5k radius wants to donate to this cause.

Please email your response according to whether you agree, disagree or wish to abstain from voting to

Thank you to all those who have already voted.

I asked Kevin to write me a piece on h,is presentation last Wednesday. Here it is .
DEMYSTIFYING MENTAL ILLNESS
from Kevin Walker
Last Wednesday we had New Gen Rotary President, Kevin Walker join us to talk about an important subject, mental illness, and what it’s like to live with schizophrenia.

Kevin’s story is one of courage, spirit, imagination and enlightenment.

His presentation was entitled

 ‘Finding Meaning and Purpose from
Psychosis and Mental Illness’.

Kevin spoke about the importance of removing the stigma associated with mental illness and is presented from the perspective of a young man trying to live with dignity, despite significant illness. He hopes to model success in the community for other sufferers of mental illness. He believes people with mental illness can also be high functioning and make a strong positive contribution to society.

His story is one not just of mental illness,  but also of success despite his diagnosis. He has completed a  University degree as well as his Postgraduate studies in Positive Psychology with a Distinction average from Central Queensland University.

His Youtube channel, 'success with schizophrenia' can be found by googling ‘kmwalker44’.

Kevin would welcome opportunities to present to as many Rotary clubs as possible during his year as president.

While Kevin thanked us, at Nunawading Rotary for inviting him to present I consider that it is we who were  privileged to have him share his story with us.We wish him every success.

Since we can't donate to EREY each week at Rotary
meetings, you can donate direct payments into the club's general bank account, clearly labelled. This can be done in smaller amounts or as a whole.
Please let me know when you make a payment. I will keep track of it and let you know when you've reached the target of $100 AUD.

REVITALISE VOCATION
from John Lynch
Vocational Seminar - Monday 27 August, 2020 at 6.00 pm

Headlining the evening will be Mary Barry.  Mary has an impressive list of career achievements including CEO of National Heart Foundation, State Emergency Service and Our Watch.  Mary has also held senior Rotary positions in Rotary D9800.

Also speaking will be Michelle James, who recently joined Rotary Club of Waverley and is Director and Founder of Aus Career Coach.

Find your Vocational inspiration at this top class D9810 event.  For more information contact Bill Haywood of Rotary Club of Waverley.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

in the production of a  RADIO PLAY
At last Wednesday's Meeting,
Wayne suggested that the club attempt  to perform an old-times style Radio play.

I absolutely love the idea and hope enough of you do so as well, in order to make this happen.
To explain, I can do no better than copy from his email

I have had some requests for recipes. This one appeared on the ABC website this week.  I used  the dumplings instead of potatoes on a stew. I must now reveal that I have never before had success with  home made dumplings , and was therefore thrilled with the result.
P.S. I didn't have spring onions, but I used mustard to add flavour to the dumpling.
Please send in your recipe recommendations for future newsletters.
