The meeting commenced with Bob Hoskins presenting a cheque from the Whitehill Trust for $1,500 to Megan from Blackburn High School. The Whitehill Trust was set up after the club was bequeathed $20,000. The money is to be used to assist young people who are from financially disadvantaged backgrounds which may mean they can't continue on to complete their schooling.
The recipients of the funding are 2 males who will be in Year 11 in 2016. They are both from Single Parent Families. Their goal is to go onto University.

In regional areas Rotary help to deliver the program
The program targets Year 11 and 12 students. It is a one day out of school program and delivered to groups of 120 to 180 students per day. It highlights crucial road safety messages.
there are 6 x 30 minute sessions: speed and stopping; after the crash; Genevieves' story; Rights and responsibilities; hazards and distractions and the personality test.
RYDA commenced in Victoria in 2012 and has training areas at Springvale, Broadmeadows, Philip Island and currently Bayswater North.
In the past 10 years since 2004, there has been a 48% reduction in youth road deaths
It costs $47.00 per student - the student pays $25, $17.00 is funded by partners BOC andToyota leaving a $5 shortfall which is made up from donations etc.
