 “Poets are  shameless with
          their experiences:
     they exploit them.”
                          ― Friedrich Nietzsche

On a more serious note:
The start of a new Rotary year and the business end of running the club. Directors are to submit their budgets, annual subscriptions are due and a new set of bylaws to vote on.

Regretfully we have had to accept the resignation from office of our President Elect Rob Jackson due to family reasons. Rob will remain a valued member of our club.

Newgen has raised $300 for the Free Coffee for Teachers initiative so if you want to contribute then drop into Rise and Grind cafe.and by one for yourself as well.

Remember "Poets Corner" this week so pen your prose and send to Bob Davis.

See you all Wednesday.

Whitehorse Cluster Centenary Project
Report from Gabby

Representatives from the 6 clubs and Rotaract along with Assistant Governor Kylie Knight-Brown met on Thursday night.
We now have 3 project proposals in the pipeline and have applied for grants for 2 of them.  All projects have a Mental Health theme attached.
  1.  A Rotary award for a student at Deakin University who demonstrates excellence in community service.  Discussions have to be held with Deakin University to determine viability and buy in.  This would be a yearly event.  The ideas for the award re a cash prize of $1750, membership of a club of their choice (Rotaract/NewGen) and a medallion/pin.
  2. Activation spaces within the City of Whitehorse.  These spaces act as conduits to bring community together and can be used for a multitude of purposes.  We have applied for a District Grant of $5,000 along with club contributions for this project.
  3. A collaboration between the Whitehorse clubs and the Eastern Health Network to provide a suite of products for people who suffer from Mental Illness and need to find connections with providers and community.  We have applied for an Australia Post Community grant of $10,000 plus club contributions for this project.
Contact Gabby or Kiel for more information.

NEWGEN'S FREE COFFEES FOR TEACHERS

                                                                                                                                       Report from Kiel
NewGen has brought back its free coffees initiative - this time for teachers -
while its street library is temporarily closed at Rise&Grind 3133 cafe in Vermont.
The club, president Kevin, R&G regular Sam Alcordo and a special anonymous supporter have chipped in $300 to kick off the initiative with 66 FREE COFFEES up for grabs.
The offer is available to teachers at Antonio Park PS, Vermont PS, Rangeview PS, St James PS and Vermont SC. Teachers must present their name badge or VIT card to claim their free coffee.
Please share this with any teachers you know, and if you would like to donate to the initiative, please PM the club on Facebook or visit the cafe at 605 Canterbury Rd, Vermont and speak to the staff.
