The Rotary Club of Nunawading supports the Dementia Cafe at the Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre by providing them with afternoon tea. The meeting times are every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from February to December, 1.30pm - 3.30pm

No one should face dementia alone.

Umbrella Dementia Cafés recognise the profound isolation and challenges faced by individuals living with dementia and their families, and we sought to create a solution—a space where connections could flourish, support could be found, and dignity preserved.

What began as a grassroots initiative in 2016 has grown into a thriving network of dementia cafés across Australia. Every Café is fully supported by a team of strong volunteers with an understanding about dementia, both personally and professionally.

Our team operates with a deep commitment to improving the quality of life for those impacted by dementia while raising awareness and fostering empathy within the broader community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Share a Plate for Our Dementia Café

We are looking for wonderful volunteers to bring a little joy to our next Dementia Café. A simple plate of sweet or savoury treats helps create a warm, welcoming space for our guests and their families.
Whether you love baking from scratch or have a go-to store-bought favourite, your contribution makes a big difference.

How you can help:

  • Savoury plates: Finger sandwiches, sausage rolls, quiches, or crackers and dip.
  • Sweet plates: Slices, biscuits, muffins, or cakes.
  • Donations can be dropped off directly to the Brickworks Café or call/text Silvana on 0401‑690‑939 to confirm the best way for your donation to reach the café.
  • When & Where:  Dementia Cafe at the Burwood Brickworks Shopping Centre, 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from February to December, 1.30pm - 3.30pm
