    November 25th marks the beginning of

    16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

    This  is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls.

    The campaign runs every year from 

            25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women,

       to 10 December, Human Rights Day.

    Did you know that there is a Rotary Fellowship Group for Empowering Women?

    Over a quarter of women aged15-49 years who have been in a relationship have been subjected to physical and/or sexual violence by their intimate partner at least once in their lifetime (since age 15).

    The Australian research paper was released early this year and reports on gender based violence/death  rather than that experienced by women only.
     
    One time Rylarian - Celeste Koens worked at ANROWS and was lead researcher on this project.
     She now works at  WGEA -The Workplace Gender Equality Agency.
     Celeste received RC Nunawading sponsorship to participate in RYLA several years ago.
    She has also volunteered on our Cath Lab projects.
