Amazing day at Bunnings Nunawading, profit on the day was $1,907.66.
A big day on a very ordinary Melbourne weather day.
The weather was not great. After 9 hours of work I believe we will have had a good day. Thank you to all the members of the club who were involved in making the day successful.
Thanks to Len, Colin and Rob for eventually providing excellent onions for us. Len was very ill but still managed to source onions for us. Thanks to Rob for collecting them and taking them to Colin to cut up. Lots of stories between Colin and Rob eased the tears from cutting onions. Rob was out of bed early and had them at Nunawading by 7.30am.
The "old team" for shift one was back together. They were very, very quiet.
Shift two were quite busy and we started to feel better about the day but there were not a lot of customers about..
The weather was still unpredictable but shift three sold lots of sausages. Shift four did not get much time to relax. Many of the customers bought multiple sausages.
Rain came and went. Our sausages continued to be in demand. Shift five needed extra supplies. We finished up making two trips to the supermarket. The sausages were still in demand after 4pm. Many of the signs indicate that we might have had a good financial return.
It has been an interesting experience managing our Bunnings commitment. All from the club involved have been wonderful. Reliable, competent, hard working and understanding. I hope they support Susan as much next year. Russell has been a great support and a wealth of knowledge and experience with this amazing fund-raiser. Thanks to Gabby and EERN for their support and use of their space to store supplies etc. Graeme with his computer skill has produced roster sheets for us.
Thanks again for volunteering on a long weekend. I can't face sausages for dinner but they again have assisted our Rotary Club to be a generous community supporter.
