Cath Labs

Peter received an email from Dr Tilak Sirisena, the cardiologist from Kurunegala Hospital who some of met when he welcomed us and  who also helped Sue C when she became ill on our club tour of Sri Lanka.
With regard to the lab he wrote

... 'procedures done in Kurunegala using Philips H 3000 machine.
Over 6500 patients had benefitted from your effort.
Although I am not working in Kurunegala now, I take this opportunity to thank you and all others involved for providing us a Cath lab and supporting us through the years.'

FYI:  We installed this pre- loved machine  in 2008, while the hospital was still being built. It was used (sparingly, at first, until more cardiologists were trained) from 2009 to 2017, when the government could afford to replace it with a new Lab.

NB: We have installed and maintained 10 (pre- loved) Catheterisation Laboratories in 4 countries (Nepal, Mongolia, Sri Lanka and Fiji) since 2002, with the understanding that we would, to the best of our abilities, contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the labs for at least 5 years.
We hope to be able to replace the lab at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva early next year, once Covid restrictions are eased.
