We had two speakers, Rebecca Foster from Prushka Mitcham and Jake Hawkins from Tyrepower Mitcham scheduled to speak as winners of the Pride of Workmanship Awards.Rebecca could not come and sent a letter with her speech and the reason she could not come - see below.
Jake came rather late - he had to go home after finishing work and shower and change. He gave a very nice talk explaining how he was "stoked" when his boss told him he wanted to nominate him for the Award. Last year, Tyrepower nominated Scott McIntyre who became Jake's mentor and taught him many of the things which made Jake perform so well.
Jake also spoke of Customer Service, do it once do it right, of rather losing a job than providing inferior service and how a business needed to have integrity to succeed.
Jake told us how pleased he was with the faith his boss Stan had in him and described Stan as the best boss ever.
Jake repeated several times how integrity was key and cited several examples of how doing the right thing by the customer got him the job
