Immediate Past President David Hatcher presented a Paul Harris Fellow pin with Sapphire to PP John Dear. PP Bob Hoskins spoke of John's time as a member of the Rotary Club of Nunawading. John joined in 1985 and was President in 2005.

Rotarian Bruce Crago (Boronia) spoke about Probus - a Rotary activity.

Currently In Australia, there are approximately 130,000 members. There are 120 Probus Clubs in Rotary District 9810; 17 in the City of Whitehorse. The Rotary Club of Nunawading has sponsored 4 Clubs

The Probus philosophy is Friendship, Fellowship and Fun and is best suited to Active Retirees. However, due to the ageing membership base and the unwillingness of some members to take leadership positions, it is expected that Probus numbers will decline. However the latest Census figures indicate there is plenty of potential members in the target demographic.

Bruce is encouraging all Rotary Clubs to invest the time and money in chartering at least one new Probus Club. The time required is approximately 3 months and the cost is less than $500.
