NEWGEN UPDATE
Greetings everyone!
NewGen has made some great progress with two big projects in the past month.
Late last month, Judith and I joined Ryan Purdie from Traffic Lights For Kinders as he donated a set of restored traffic lights to Eastmont Preschool in Vermont and gave a short presentation on road safety. Our club was happy to help him find another kinder to give some lights to after he was a guest speaker at our meeting earlier in the month.
Ryan has donated more than 100 sets to kinders all over Australia in three years, plowing thousands of dollars of his own money into restoring old sets chucked out by VicRoads. He's scheduled to speak at the March 25 meeting (if it still goes ahead), and you'll learn heaps more about his fantastic passion project then. We might also have a (secret!) presentation to make...
Secondly, our street library project is also taking shape! For those of you unaware, the concept is the library will be full of FREE books which you can take, but we encourage people to donate one of their old ones in return for someone else to enjoy. Ian and the Eastern Emergency Relief crew have kindly helped us find a bookcase, and we're starting to stock up on books too.
If you have some books you'd like to donate, please speak to Judith or Gabby and we'll kindly take them off you. We plan to install the library in the cafe in early April.
Cheers - Kiel - NewGen 2019-20 President.
