Cosima X  ray cassettes reader
On Thursday the 12th of July, Phil Maxwell and I visited D.I.K in Footscray West to supervise the crating of the two X-ray cassette readers for the Cook Islands.

The cassette readers were donated by Bega Valley Radiology and they were originally destined for Timor Leste. They will now be used on Aitutaki in the Cook Islands.

The crating was very professionally done by a group called CMTP.
The readers were packed in moisture resistant foil before packing them in custom made crates made from treated plywood.

The crate for the peripherals was too big, and we added boxes of shirts to partially fill the wasted space.

Good to go

Soon the crates will be picked up the DSV Air and Sea for shipping to Rarotonga.
From there the machines will be transferred to Aitutaki.
Because of the way the equipment is packed, we feel confident everything will arrive safely, even if it is transported to Aitutaki on the back of a fishing boat.

The installation will be done by either my-self or Jason Walker.
Jason Walker is a Philips field service engineer in Christchurch, New Zealand and he is the initiator of the project.
Jason is arranging for a mobile X-ray machine donated by Wairau (Blenheim) Public Hospital to be shipped from Christchurch to Aitutaki to complete the X-ray facility.
