Janette Etherington sent me a few images of our club at work
and Peter K posted an image on his Facebook page
Photos of the playground that was harvested last week from a council playground in Maroondah.
The playground will wing its way to India once we have a full container to send.
On behalf of the club, Gabby and I visited MCM to present Ben Frawley with a
commercial can opener,
and $125 of Coles vouchers
The commercial can opener will make life much easier for the volunteers who cook the meals each Sunday night, when they have to open large tins of fruit.
The vouchers can be used to buy groceries for the meals that are served to approx 60 guests each Sunday, or can be given to guests so they can obtain a meal on another night.
".....we had another working bee at Blackburn Lake Sanctuary.
The weather was good with sunshine and no wind. We had a very enjoyable time planting trees and scrubs native to the area, as well as some weeding and spreading some mulch."
I confirm that the club membership has been renewed.
It is unfortunate but the number of supporting members has dropped.
We have had 20-25 members supporting PBF over recent years but this year it has dropped to 15. Sad, but I guess the issue of spinal injury is not top of mind until confronted by it. Fortunately we remain claim free after about 20 years. Hopefully there will be a better takeup next year.
