REPORTS

AUSTRALIA DAY EVENT

The RC Nunawading Australia Day Committee

has agreed to assist the council

at two of the 5 locations in the City of Whitehorse

Halliday Park in Mitcham

Surrey Park in Box Hill South

We will assist with QR codes and wrist bands as well as with barbecuing sausages.

The venues are going to be fenced and only 1,000 people are to be allowed in for a sausage, ice-cream and entertainment.

This will be an opportunity to showcase Rotary at each of these venues so please wear your Rotary gear.

NEWGEN GOES HIKING TO KICK OFF 2021

NewGen resumed its activities on Sunday 17th with a social hike at Olinda Falls.
Steve led Kiel, Ash and Perry on a slightly muddy but very scenic route through the Dandenong Ranges to the falls and back. The boys also munched on some wraps and cookies and rescued Perry's water bottle which fell into the falls!

NewGen's first in-person meeting will be

on Sunday, January 31 at their new home - Rise&Grind 3133 cafe in Vermont - from 12.30pm.

All are welcome, particularly any prospective new members, as we plan our activities and goals for the rest of the Rotary year.

The club will continue to meet fortnightly on Sundays at the new time of 12.30pm in 2021, alternating between Zoom and brunches at R&G.

Other upcoming meeting dates include:

Message from Len

‘We still need sunglasses and mobile phones for the

Taveuni Eye Program.

Any contributions ?

If so please contact Bruce Simcox or Len Brear’

REMEMBER WHEN

some of us were THISCLOSE to a Nobel Peace Prize?

The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons

entered into force on Friday the 22^nd of January, 2021.

I was reminded of the Rotary Peace Forum held a few years ago when

Australian Nobel Peace Prize recipient Tilman Ruff ( pictured below with some of our members)

spoke on the subject of Nuclear Disarmament.
