As you all know, we had scheduled the Pride of Workmanship for Wednesday 16th March at Box Hill Town Hall.
For a number of reasons, planning has fallen behind schedule and we need to re-convene to get it back on track.
The two primary reasons for this are:
Unsuccessful discussions to have the CEO of Box Hill Institute (Ms Vivienne King) as Guest Speaker
Continuing uncertainty about hosting an event during the Omicron variant of COVID-19
However, there is some good news:
Katherine Kyriakou from the Whitehorse Business Group has re-affirmed their support. They will work with Mike Finke to promote the Awards via their social media channels
I have had very helpful discussions with RC Templestowe with insights on how they run their event
We have received a 75% discount from Whitehorse Council for the hire of Box Hill Town Hall.
Bob Davis has received a quotation for catering that provides a buffet-style meal.
We've managed to empty the container and, on behalf of the RC of Nunawading, I've donated it to the Rotary Club of Suva.
Despite its expiring seaworthy certificate and the battering it got on the way from Melbourne to Suva, it's worth 80% more here than we paid for it.
It will be sold and the proceeds will be donated to the cath lab for running expenses.
The craziest thing that happened today was that the fork lift got bogged in the soft soil next to a concrete path. We used the block and tackle I'd bought to lift the L-arm to pull the fork lift out.(see above pic) .
