What a joy it is to welcome back young people whose Rotary-supported journeys are taking flight! Ethan Newnham, back in Australia for a quick visit, generously made time to share another inspiring update on his academic adventure at Oxford. We were also delighted to welcome Graham Richardson from RC Manningham City, whose support was instrumental in helping RC Forest Hill secure Rotary Foundation funding for Ethan’s scholarship. As Ethan spoke about the encouragement and confidence that launched his journey, Glenys, Bob and Graham had every reason to feel like proud grandparents—what a wonderful reminder of the lasting impact we can create when we believe in someone’s potential!
We were also thrilled to hear from Sri and Scott Blair of Karuna Dawn, who introduced us to their innovative, vegan-friendly leaf leather products and an exciting proposal to work together. Watch this space—more details will be shared as the launch date draws closer!
The Farmer’s Market was on again on Sunday, another great turn out of stalls and shoppers. Stuart was on the morning shift with Lauris from RC Mitcham. A huge thank-you to everyone who contributed their time and energy—you made it another terrific community day!
Bob W may look very comfortable in the Farmers’ Market Treasurer’s chair, but he is only keeping it warm for its next star occupant! If you enjoy being organised, supporting a great community event and joining a terrific team, this could be your opportunity to shine. The Treasurer role is now available, and Bob W would be delighted to hand over the reins and help you get started.

Sridevi presented products and information regarding leaf leather, a plant based material to make tote and messenger bags, wallets, pen holders and glasses cases.
Leaves are gathered from the forest floor, soaked, dyed & steamed. The heat compresses and bonds the leaves onto non-woven fabric. The sheet of leaves is ready to cut into different shapes and stitched together.
The final fabric is light weight, softening over time and ages beautifully.
