LAST WEEK'S MEETING

The Truth About Vocational Service

Vocational Service Director John Lynch

Vocational Service is one of Rotary’s Seven Avenues of Service

Through Vocational Service we:

Serve others by using our unique skills to address community needs
Empower others through training and skill development
Inspire others to act with integrity by following Rotary’s guiding principles

Rotary has within its Constitution, Objects and Guiding principles covering ethical standards and behaviour with which it expects its members to comply,

These are reflected in The Four Way Test and the Rotarian Code of Conduct

Examples of Vocational service in action within our own club includes

An accountant auditing the books for a community group
A language teacher assisting former refugees
A medical engineer re-deploying outdated machines
An insurance broker providing risk assessment
An engineer packing up unwanted playgrounds
An ophthalmologist helping fight trachoma
A magistrate accessing court funds for community service
A parliamentarian providing a venue for MUNA

… and more

Rotarian Action Groups https://my.rotary.org/en/take-action/empower-leaders/rotary-action-groups

& Rotary Fellowship Groups https://www.rotary.org/en/our-programs/more-fellowships

are further examples of Rotary Vocational Service in Action
