Blackburn High School Careers Expo

Blackburn High School

On 25 May our club assisted Blackburn High School with its annual mini career expo for its students. This year the event seemed bigger than ever.  It is aimed at VCE students who are thinking about their future career choices.

The two areas we helped the school were in providing guest speakers to discuss particular types of careers with students, and, to conduct mock interviews to give students an experience and some preparation tips on their job application, CV, and interview techniques.  Thank you to Dr Bob Davis and Dr Alex Ioannidis for their talk on the medical profession. Many students and their parents were interested, for most, it was “standing room” only!    Thank you to Janette Ethrington, Ian Armstrong, Wendy Oliver and David Hatcher for assisting with the mock interviews. Thank you to everyone else who offered their assistance.

At club members request, we did not have a guest speaker for the night, and club members who were not required for the careers talks or school interviews enjoyed some fellowship at Bucatinis.
