Council on Legislation 2016

The Rotary Council on Legislation meets every three years to consider changes in the Rotary Legislation that govern the way clubs are run.

Each district appoints a representative for a three year term and they vote on the proposed changes.

The changes made in 2016 are far reaching and will result in broader based, more inclusive clubs if implemented correctly.

However they could destroy clubs if changes are poorly made.

As President Elect I will form a small group to look at the changes and to flesh out what options they open up for our club. This review is planned to be complete by February 2017.

Once this information is presented to the members we will have a club forum to openly discuss what (if anything) we will do. Any changes should be trialled no later than early in the 2017/18 Rotary year.

The agreed changes will be written into the club Bylaws with due regard for Victorian and Australian law.
