District Conference 2013

What a wonderful District Conference at Wangaratta over last weekend! Congratulations to DG Brian and Sue for their involvements not only in their roles as chairman and first lady, but for their happy participation in the activities as they unfolded.

As usual we had some very special speakers, but the stars of the show turned out to be Sue Martin, Kay Ericson, Gaye Barnes, Jill Richards, Val Glen & Veronica Podbury. They spoke (accompanied by many slides) about their recent trip to India to participate in World Polio Day. Arising from that event came a proposal to District that D9810 should endeavour to raise $30,000 to provide clean water and sanitation assistance to ten communities in the city they had visited. By the end of the Conference the money had been pledged. Well done ladies!

The Gala Dinner was held in a very large marquee in a lovely parkland area. This was a marvellous function. The food was good, and the entertainment superb. The theme for the night was “A Touch of Green” (in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day on the Sunday).

Next year’s Conference will be held in Bendigo.
