Rotary Whitehorse Farmers Market – Treasurer 

 

As Market treasurer, you manage the Rotary Whitehorse Farmers Market finances and ensure proper stewardship by tracking incoming and outgoing funds. 

Qualifications

Bachelor of Business (Accounting)    desirable 

Read below to learn more about some of your responsibilities,

Before you take office

  • Meet with the current treasurer to review the Markets procedure’s
  • Receive access to Markets accounts, accounting records, and any related materials from the outgoing treasurer, 

The market is held on the second Sunday of the month. We start at 6 am with Stall holders arriving between 6 am and 7.30 am. 

During the fiscal year 

  • Maintain the Markets financial and historical records in accordance with local laws.
  • Collect stall holder fees and pay invoices and use those funds to meet the Markets financial obligations.

Duty Pre Market :

  • Charge phone & square terminal

  • Print out volunteer roster sheet, volunteer sign in sheet

  • Make sure there is sufficient stall holder receipt book

  • Pay bread invoice on Monday or Tuesday before market week.

Market Day :

  • Arrive 6am

  • Set up volunteer sign in sheet

  • Stamp & date stall holder receipt book

  • Set up square terminal

  • Help with counting coins during the day

Post Market :

  • Count coins and notes 

  • Bank the takings on Monday morning

  • Email the takings to committee on Monday.

  • Pay council rent & any other volunteer reimbursements and expenses as needed during the month.

  • Prepare financial reports after end of the month (ie. profit & loss and Balance sheet)
