Kiel Egging from NewGen
This time last year, NewGen held its hugely successful Parmas for Polio fundraiser at The Coach in Ringwood. It attracted over 100 guests - including plenty of RC Nunawading members - and the group was able to qualify for the district's PolioPlus program and raise more than $13,300 for polio eradication worldwide.
Obviously due to COVID-19 restrictions, the club isn't holding the event in the same timeslot this year. However, NewGen plans to stage Parmas For Polio again sometime this Rotary year, most likely in early 2021.
This is obviously dependent on the easing of restrictions and The Coach's ability to host functions. We want as many people to attend (safely) as possible, and we'd love to make our second dose of Parmas even better than the first. Watch this space.
In other club news, Rise&Grind 3133 has extended its burger fundraising offer for us until the end of October. You can get a beef burger for $22 or a vegan burger for $25, and both come with fat chips. $5 from the sale of each burger and chips goes straight into NewGen's coffers.
Finally, Steve has stepped up to take on Secretary duties (as well as his financial liaison role), with Nat recently stepping down and taking a break from the club due to work commitments. Nat was my Vice President last year and also a founding member of NewGen when the club started back in mid-2018. We thank her for her awesome contribution and hope to see her getting involved again sometime in the future.
