THANKS FROM NEW GEN!
After months of planning, NewGen held our first event for the year - Parmas For Polio - at The Coach on Thursday. We exceeded our goals and expectations - with more than 100 people turning up for a great feed for a great cause.
Past Rotary International President Ian Riseley delivered a really fun and engaging speech - outlining Rotary's efforts over the years, sharing his own experiences campaigning for the cause, and encouraging us all to keep up the good work in trying to #EndPolioNow.
And there were some very happy raffle winners too taking home wine, chocolates, gift vouchers and other goodies.
It's one thing to have an idea for an event, but it's another thing to have so many people get behind it. You guys shifted your meeting and bought your tickets to support our small group, and people such as Judith, Gabby, Russell, Ian and Roger gave their time, energy and generosity to help us pull this off.
Thankyou so much for supporting the event and your ongoing support for the four (soon to be five) of us in NewGen. Thursday has gone a long way to showing we have arrived in District 9810 and in the broader community too.
We'll keep you posted on how much we raised on the night in the coming weeks - and we're exploring the options to make our donation go as far as possible.
A big shout out too to Ashwin who even had a parma for us in hospital while he recovers from another health scare - get well soon mate.
Kiel Egging
NewGen 2019-2020 President
