ImageIn February, Graeme Chester from the Rotary District 9810 ROMAC (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children) Committee spoke to the Club. I asked him to follow up on a young Fijian boy that our Club hosted in 2003. Below is his response.

Hi Bob,

After speaking to your Club on 20th February this year, I undertook to find out more about the subsequent treatment of a patient that your Club had mentored - Jone Veiquaravi. You spoke to me about a week or so after my visit to your Club and provided more information about Jone.

Subsequently, we (D9810 ROMAC Committee) have been tracking down the then ROMAC people involved with his treatment to ascertain what happened to Jone. It appears that the last record of Jone was in December 2003 with correspondence indicating that further treatment could be undertaken in Fiji. There is no information available about what subsequently happened and ROMAC has had no further contact with his family since that time.

Consequently, in order to close the loop, Gaynor Schol, Chairperson D9810 ROMAC Committee, has recently written a letter to Jone's grandfather, Jiaoji Taholo, at his last known address, to ascertain Jone's current situation. If a response is received we will notify your Club immediately.

Regards,

Graeme Chester,

D9810 ROMAC Committee.
